This Tyrannosaurus rex skull, called Casper, is 66 million years old. Casper was around 7 years old when he died, and the skull measures about 50 cm. The skull has now been CT scanned at the 3D Imaging Centre (3DIM) in collaboration with the Natural History Museum Denmark.
CT scanning and 3D visualization let scientists study specimens like this in incredible detail, without ever touching the original. And they make that research accessible to people who would otherwise never get close to a T. rex skull.
3D Imaging Centre (3DIM) works across a wide range of fields — materials science and engineering, life sciences and biomedical research, industrial R&D and manufacturing, and natural history and cultural heritage. 3DIM is working in collaboration with Storyvoxel. Thy specialize in using state-of-the-art volume rendering and visual storytelling to turn large datasets into clear, explorable visuals for education, research communication, exhibitions, and professional use.
