In a meeting between the two worlds, secrets from the past have been revealed that help art historians solve an unsolved Rembrandt mystery...
This spring, DTU’s 3D Imaging Centre had a remarkable guest: a Rembrandt portrait of a 39-year-old lady from Nivaagaards Malerisamling. Art historians Jørgen Wadum and Angela Jager collaborated with DTU to perform a CT scan of the painting, supporting a dendrochronological analysis to explore the artwork's history.
DTU has documented this unique visit in a short video, showcasing this fascinating cross-disciplinary collaboration. It wouldn't have been possible without the contributions of Ulrik Lund Olsen and Jan Kehres, who are part of building the new instruments at the DANFIX research infrastructure, or Jakob Sauer Jørgensen from DTU COMPUTE. Jakob created the reconstructions using the CIL platform, enabling Aoife Daly, PhD to carry out the dendrochronological analysis.
DTU has released a video (in Danish) documenting this fascinating cross-disciplinary project, highlighting how science and art can combine to unlock hidden secrets from the past. You can watch it on our LinkedIn page: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:7239178206497370112
